Former Destiny's Child Singer Michelle Williams Switches Gear

Michelle Williams, formerly of the award-winning R&B trio Destiny's Child, is trading in one big stage for another. The singer is making her foray into acting as the lead in David E. Talbert's production "What My Husband Doesn't Know."

Williams plays the envied Lena Summer, who appears to have a perfect life. However, the demanding career of her over-achieving husband leaves her lonely. Cue the handsome foreman hired to work around their home. Lena engages in an impassioned affair with the laborer which may result in her losing everything.

Known mostly for her gospel sound and church roots, Williams was asked why she decided to take the role of the adulterous Lena. She responds that she could not pass up the opportunity to work with Talbert.

"I had wanted to work with David for the last five years. Our schedules just did not link up until recently. So when presented with this chance I said yes. David is not your typical playwright. He builds characters that you connect to at the most honest point. It is so cleverly written and inspiring."

Williams admits that acting in a play has certain demands that being a musician does not. "Wow, it's blocking and costume fittings and music rehearsals. It takes a great team to make these plays happen. The amount of talent that creates the story that you act is amazing."

This all-star production of success, temptation, forgiveness, and maturity not only features Williams but Brian White, Ann Nesby, and Clifton Davis. The remaining tour dates and locations are listed below.
